Orff, Carmina Burana
Opening with one of the grandest statements in all of choral literature, Orff’s Carmina Burana is pure spectacle. Deceptively simple harmonies combined with contagious rhythms and dramatic vocal solos create a hypnotically primeval experience. Featuring the combined voices of the Northwestern Michigan College & Interlochen Arts Academy Choirs, this audience favorite explores the fickleness of fortune and wealth, the ephemeral nature of life, the joy of the return of Spring, and the pleasures and perils of indulging in life’s excess.
