The opening concert sets the tone for a season like no other, full of unexpected combinations, with eclectic music from as serious as it gets to as light and fun as it gets! We start with an unlikely trio of instruments in a dazzling concert with music from Bach to the Dill Pickle Rag! From the very first notes of German 18th Century master, J. S. Bach – played on the marimba – you’ll know you’re experiencing a special concert. The influence of “fun” music takes over for the middle section of the concert with jazz, and popular idioms dominating the musical expression, a brief stop by the musical avant garde, and then a wrap up with traditional favorites, Rachmaninoff and Brahms! Our second TSO live concert features an eclectic program spanning three centuries and ranging from French masterpieces exemplars of the German school, with a stop in Armenia, only to wrap up back in the United States, with a foray into John Williams’ film scores. The Germanic tradition of composition is marked by rigorous discipline for established forms and rules which you’ll hear in three solo works featuring each of our soloists. The French love of beauty and elegance comes to the fore in works by renowned harp pedagogue, Grandjany, and Ravel, the flashy impressionist. Debussy, the father of Impressionism, attempts to reconcile the French and German in his Violin Sonata. The American sense of fun and direct communication of emotions concludes the program with works from master film composer, John Williams, featuring all of our artists together.

In order to assure the safety of our audience and musicians, there will be no seating at this closed taping; instead, the concert will be live-streamed here on this page, using professionally engingeered audio & video inputs.
