As we look back on 64 years of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra, we celebrate the incredible transformation of our organization from a small community orchestra to a regional symphony that engages musicians from all points of the state and beyond. It is without a doubt that our enduring strength, pride and enthusiasm developed over time is due to the tireless efforts of Elnora Toldo Milliken. Elnora’s vision saw the orchestra through good times and bad, and her persistence to keep the orchestra’s momentum moving forward is the reason our orchestra of today is too good to miss!
As our organization continues to grow and the bar continues to rise, we take this opportunity to acknowledge and honor Elnora Toldo Milliken for her dedication to the Traverse Symphony Orchestra and the arts in the Grand Traverse region. Between March 1 and June 4, 2016, the Traverse Symphony Orchestra honors Elnora with the Elnora Toldo Milliken Honorarium – a fundraising campaign in recognition of her vision and
in celebration of our history. Gifts to the Symphony in celebration of Elnora may be made in the concert hall lobby, via phone at 231.947.7120, or visit www.traversesymphony.org. Contributors will be listed in a special section of the Fall 2016 program book.
On June 4, 2016 the Traverse Symphony Orchestra celebrated Elnora Milliken with a performance of Stravinsky’s Suite from The Firebird in her honor.
