Ben Wulfman, Second Horn in the Traverse Symphony Orchestra, is a freelance musician in the Michigan and Ohio area and lives in Ann Arbor. He has performed with such groups as the Sunflower Music Festival Orchestra, the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, the Toledo Symphony and the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra.
Ben is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in French horn performance at the University of Michigan. In his time at school, He was a soloist on the 2014 Scholarship Showcase, as well as the opening act as a featured soloist on the 2015 School of Music, Theatre and Dance Collage concert. As a member of multiple small ensembles, Ben stays busy with his woodwind quintet, brass quintet, horn quartet and most recently, Tuba-Horn-Piano trio. As an avid chamber musician outside of school, Wulfman is a member of the Fyve Qorners Brass Quintet, as well as a frequenter of jazz combos.
In March 2015, Ben was named the winner of the 2015 Southeast Horn Workshop high-horn mock audition held at Louisiana State University. Wulfman is a fellow at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, based in Rendsburg, Germany. Under the direction of such conductors as Christoph Eschenbach, Manfred Honeck, and Krzyztof Urbanski, the orchestra performs all over the country. The Festival Orchestra will tour China to bring in the New Year.
