Genevieve Beaulieu lives in Holland, Michigan and is the second bassoonist with Traverse Symphony Orchestra. In addition to playing with the TSO, Genevieve is principal bassoonist with the Midland Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra Woodwind Quintet, a group that performs educational programs at local Kalamazoo schools. Genevieve also performs frequently with the Grand Rapids, West Michigan, and Lansing symphonies.
She graduated from Ohio State University with her Bachelor’s in Bassoon Performance, where she studied with Karrie Pierson, and from Michigan State University with her Master’s and Doctorate in Bassoon Performance, where she studied with Michael Kroth.
Genevieve is currently Instructor of Bassoon at Hope College, maintains private studios in both Holland and Lansing, and is on faculty at Michigan State’s Community Music School. She is a member of the Grand Rapids-based trio, ma non troppo, a founding member of the new music ensemble, Collective Behavior, and performs solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire as an artist-in-residence at Taneycomo Festival Orchestra during the summers in Branson, Missouri.
When she’s not thinking about bassoon (or reeds, for that matter!) Genevieve spends her time with her Shih-tzu puppy, Winnie!
