Krista Cooper was on staff with the Traverse Symphony Orchestra in its marketing and development department for over 6 years and was promoted to Executive Director in May 2013. She is the Symphony’s first female Executive Director in its 60+ year history.
Under her leadership, the TSO’s income has grown by 11%, annual operations have balanced after having had annual deficits for years prior, concert attendance has risen 4%, and the organization paid off its $110,000 bank debt.
Cooper and the board of directors are currently in the process of long term strategic planning for the TSO.
Krista is a Traverse City native with a vocal performance background and was employed by Interlochen Center for the Arts in the Admissions department for 8 years prior to joining the Symphony staff. With a lifelong love of music, the arts, and the Traverse City community, Krista is a member of the Traverse City Economic Club and also serves on the Board of Directors of Building Bridges with Music, an organization that through music, promotes understanding, tolerance, respect and peace to youth throughout the state of Michigan.
