Lynne Tobin

Lynne Tobin is a cellist in the Traverse Symphony Orchestra and is the Director of the Symphony’s Civic String Orchestras, a unique, multi age community orchestra program.

An independent school educator for over 40 years, Lynne recently retired from teaching general music and strings at the Pathfinder School in Traverse City. Prior to joining Pathfinder, Lynne taught music and photography at the Emerson School in Ann Arbor, MI and was a cellist in the Savannah Symphony. She was the Director of Strings at the Savannah Country Day School in Georgia and conducted the award-winning high school orchestra from which several students went on to The Julliard School, Curtis Institute, Oberlin Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music.

She attended Interlochen Arts Academy, University of Michigan earning a BM in Cello Performance, a Masters of Music from Northern Illinois University and participating in the Project Zero Summer Institute, Harvard University. In June 2014 Ms. Tobin was recognized as an Outstanding Educator by the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce.
